Frequently asked questions

What steps should I take if I’m injured at work in the Tampa Bay area?

If you’re injured on the job, report the injury to your employer as soon as possible, seek medical treatment from an approved provider, and document everything related to your injury and treatment. Florida law requires prompt notification, and failing to report in a timely manner could jeopardize your claim.

What benefits are available to me through workers’ compensation in Florida?

Florida’s workers’ compensation system may provide several types of benefits, including coverage for authorized medical treatment, partial wage replacement (temporary total or partial disability), and, if applicable, permanent disability benefits. If a work-related injury results in death, dependent family members may also be eligible for certain benefits.

Each case is unique, so consulting with one of our dedicated attorneys can help you understand the specific benefits you may qualify for.

What should I do immediately after suffering a personal injury in Florida?

After an injury, your first priority should be safety and medical attention. Call 911 if needed, document the scene with photos, gather witness information, and seek prompt medical care—even if injuries seem minor. Before speaking with insurance companies, consult a local attorney to protect your rights and ensure you don’t jeopardize your claim.

How do I qualify for Social Security Disability benefits in Florida?

To qualify for Social Security Disability, you must have a medical condition that prevents you from working for at least 12 months or is expected to result in death. You also need to have worked long enough and paid into Social Security. Applications can be complex, and many initial claims are denied, so working with an attorney experienced in handling claims in the Lakeland, Tampa, or Brandon area can improve your chances of approval.

What should I do if I believe I’ve been wrongfully terminated in Brandon or Tampa, FL?

If you suspect wrongful termination—such as being fired due to discrimination, retaliation, or violation of an employment contract—gather all relevant documentation (such as emails and performance reviews) and consult an employment law attorney.
